October/November 2008; John Purcell & Peter Hannibal formed Hannibal, Purcell & Associates for two primary reasons;
a) There was a gap in the technology side of the Gaming Industry between suppliers/vendors and the operators. The existence of such a gap causes operators to be apprehensive about committing to a particular supplier or technology for fear of choosing the wrong one and not being able to retract. Similarly, vendors and manufacturers are producing products that they ‘think’ or ‘believe’ their customers will want. HP&A can offer a service that enables operators to make informed decisions. They can also offer a service to manufacturers and vendors that help them to identify what any potential customers business requirements are, allowing them to produce & deliver products that meet operational needs and that enhances their business.
b) The second area that is frustrating the Gaming Industry is the development of software and systems. Far too often the wrong organisation takes on a project or a piece of development that is not in their core competence. The result is invariably late delivery, software not doing everything the customer wanted, and/or cost over-runs. HP&A was set up with access to hundreds of software developers in many different jurisdictions with the intention of not only creating a solution to this issue, but also giving the client the comfort of penalty clauses, possibility of IP ownership and confidence that any anticipated revenue benefit from a project can be realised on time.
